Drawing on its successful hosting of the UCLG World Congress in 2022 and the Global Innopolis Forum in 2023, the City of Daejeon is in the process of establishing the Global Innopolis Network Initiative this year to bring together global innovation cities, fostering sustainable economic development and urban innovation through practical cooperation based on R&D collaboration and business support for startups and SMEs.
In our pursuit of this goal, five leading innovation cities – Calgary (Canada), Malaga (Spain), Montgomery County (MD, USA), Seattle (USA), and Dortmund (Germany) – participated in the 2023 Forum. Together, they declared a “Shared Vision,” establishing a consensus to collectively strive for sustainable urban prosperity. In addition to these cities, we are extending invitations to more cities to join the Initiative, marking the beginning of its journey with this year's inaugural ceremony.
